MARCELO GHERSI, MD

Doctor Marcelo Ghersi grew up in South Florida, where he attended high school and college. He graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor of Sciences degree and Magna Cum Laude Honors. He attended the George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where he obtained his medical doctorate degree. Dr. Ghersi later returned to South Florida to pursue post-graduate training. After working as a general surgery resident at Mount Sinai Medical Center, he joined the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic Hospital in Weston, where he successfully completed a plastic and reconstructive surgery residency program.

Following graduation, Dr. Ghersi joined the faculty of the Cleveland Clinic plastic surgery department. In addition to his duties as an adjunct faculty member teaching residents, he entered group private practice in Fort Lauderdale. For several years he worked at Memorial Regional Hospital and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, where he attended adult and children with reconstructive surgery needs. In addition to participating in the cleft and craniofacial teams of these institutions, he began participating in yearly medical missions to Central America, performing cleft and pediatric plastic surgery on children in need.

Junior G. Villegas, MMS, PA-C

Junior G. Villegas is a Board Certified Physician Assistant. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies degree from Miami Dade College in 2021 and his Master of Medical Science degree from Saint Francis University in 2022.

During his studies, he formed part of the Physician Assistant Student Organization, was nominated, and elected as the student representative for the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants (FAPA). His background includes 12 years of experience in the medical imaging field as an MRI Technologist.

During his career in imaging, he developed a greater understanding of health care and how to deliver it while establishing excellent rapport with patients in the community.

During his early private practice years, Dr. Ghersi developed a passion for aesthetic plastic surgery. In order to excel in this highly specialized field, he traveled across the country to visit and learn from some of the top surgeons in his specialty. Dr. Ghersi was also selected to participate in one of the most exclusive and renowned advanced aesthetic plastic surgery fellowship training programs in the country at Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital as well as Lenox Hill Hospital in New York city. This experience granted him the opportunity to train directly under many of the world’s pioneers in plastic surgery of the nose and the aging face. Dr. Ghersi then returned to South Florida to co-found the plastic surgery institute of Miami, a premiere aesthetic plastic surgery group practice in Coral Gables, Florida.

Doctor Ghersi is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the leading accrediting body for plastic surgeons in the United States. He is an active member of several professional organizations and currently holds active medical licenses in the states of Florida and New York. In addition to his academic teaching appointments, he has active privileges at some of South Florida and New York’s most reputable hospitals. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and presented his works at major plastic surgery national meetings.

A talented surgeon, Dr. Ghersi is well known for his natural and beautiful surgical results, as well as his caring personality.
